L’œuf centre d’études is a creator’s collective which was active from the beginning of the 1960’s. The movement was officially conceived in 1963, and its duly innovative and audacious designs have left an indelible impression on the history of design.
AN EXTRAORINARY CREATIVE ADVENTURE
Sculptors Jacques Bertoux and Charles Gianferrari, architects Jean Piantanida, Pierre Puccinelli, René Brusetti and Charles Miglierina, designers René Bertoux and Françoise Idoux, and economists Jean Souchal and Maurice Idoux comprise the ten founding members of one of the most active groups known to the period. Other public figures joined the creative adventure over the course of time, such as Arlette Granval, Maurice François, Georges Ferran, Annie Richard, Roland Dufour, Daniel Garcin and Laurent Marie, to cite just a few of its most active members.
Arlette Granval (1934-2021)
She joined l’œuf centre d’études at the beginning of 1964 , and shared her life with Jean Piantanida, who would play a decisive role in the organization. In 1965, she would assume the direction of the creation atelier and realisation of mosaics. Her atelier gave rise to more than 300 mosaics, some of which were monumental. Such iconic works include but are not limited to the administrative centers of Gennevilliers and Roanne, the Embassy of South Affrica in the South of Paris and the numerous realizations which currently adorn many building halls across France and the globe.
THE BIRTH OF CRÉATONE
She was also the principal designer of two revolutionary wallpaper collections of the 1970s, renowned and revered under the name Créatone.
